Today third graders had a chance to get their hands dirty in science class. They dug for fossils, made casts for fossils out of plaster of paris, and painted dinosaur eggs. On April 18, we will take a trip to the Dinosphere at The Children's Museum. More learning ahead!

A New School Year
This summer I was able to spend some quality time with my family. My three grandsons, Tyler, Jeffrey and Alex spent five days with us. My husband, Phil, and I visited our son, Ryan, in New York. My daughter, Angie, learned what it was like having two sons playing two different sports with two different practice schedules!
I continued my education by taking a graduate level course at Indiana Wesleyan University. During our teacher meetings this week, I was able to share some of the information with our teaching staff.
This year I am celebrating my third year as a teacher at St. Joan of Arc School and my eighth year as a teacher. I am fortunate to be able to do a job that I love surrounded by an awesome teaching and administrative staff.
My goal is to share my love of learning with each child in my class. I recognize that I have a class of individuals with different learning styles. We will have many adventures exploring the different ways to learn.
The third grade curriculum includes religion, math, reading, spelling, language arts, science, and social studies, along with the specials classes. After ISTEP testing is complete, we will read our first chapter book as a class.
I sent a class newsletter home each week. Reading the newsletter is one way to stay in touch with what your child is doing in third grade.
Please plan to come and visit our classroom sometime this year.
